And what the difference is between stop loss and limit stop loss. I have read the questrade website but I still don't understand. What I am trying to do is have xyz sell at $9 if it hits $9 but it is at $11 rn. Thank you My understanding of Stop limits is that if the Stop price is reached, then a limit order is set. Does that sound correct? for example: I own XYZ at $10 a share.

I dont use stop limits myself so cant comment as to how Questrade has them set up, but in this case where Questrade has both Stop Loss and Stop Limit order, to ensure a sale occurs, Stop Loss would be the one to choose. Stop Limit would only allow it to occur at the price you set. If what you are sayIng is you put a stop loss order (not limit), the sale should have gone through as a market order would be triggered.
